As first quarter comes to a close, we want to share the exciting events that occurred. First grade students learned all about farming and pumpkins during their field trip to the pumpkin patch. The day was cloudy and wet but they made the best of it. Students rode pedal cars, learned how to pump water, identified the parts of the pumpkin plant and even played in the corn. Fourth grade also enjoyed a field trip. They dressed their best and went to the Kansas City Symphony to listen to a concert. And fifth grade students learned real world job skills during their field trip to the Blue Springs School of Economics. They made and sold products, created budgets, interviewed for jobs, and learned many life skills.  Who knew they would be so good at cooking? We are also excited to announce Student Council has been brought back to Lewis! Fourth and fifth graders held elections to elect their class representatives during the last week of October. These students will assist with events like homecoming, spirit week, and other areas of need. We look forward to seeing how the student council members can make a difference in our school community.  It’s been a great first quarter.
